A group of approximately 25 were found by local landholder, who wishes to remain anonymous, on his farm near Balranald on 5 October 2023. This is the second largest group of APS found for several years and they were concentrated on flooded wheat stubble with receding water and mudflat islands. The bulk of them seemed to disperse after about two weeks, with only a few remaining. Gloria, our first tracked bird, was one of them that remained present. Photo by Mick Todd.

Shining a light on one of the most mysterious species in the world.
