NSW: Wetland at Bulbul Crescent, Fletcher, Newcastle area

Eight birds found at the Bulbul Crescent wetland in Fletcher near Newcastle by James Bennett on 16 December 2024. This is the fourth largest number found nationwide in recent years, after the Gingham watercourse, Macquarie Marshes and Balranald sites. This year, James had already broken the NSW twitching record, with 478 species, but didn’t have APS, so congratulations on a hugely significant record and the biggest birding year ever in NSW. Shining a light on one of the most mysterious species in the world.
